Our Story

Located on the shores of New Brunswick on Canada’s east coast, Ocean Legacy began on a very modest scale.  As a traditional lobster fisherman, in 1985 Colin Borthwick with his wife Leona and their two young sons Shane and Jared began farming high quality local Atlantic Salmon.  The first year involved rowing a mile daily in a small dingy with a bucket of locally made fish feed to one small hand-made wooden sea pen with a few hundred fish.

As one of Canada’s earliest pioneers’ trial and error was the order of the day; but through hard work and dedication Ocean Legacy established a reputation for honesty, integrity and high quality products.

Today, the Ocean Legacy brand represents a commitment to seafood quality and safety that is rarely found in the food business.  The Borthwick family has earned its’ living from the local waters for over three generations and continues to fish the traditional way for local lobsters and scallops while ocean farming Atlantic Salmon and sourcing other seafood products from local suppliers. 

Many things have changed over the years but our commitment to food safety and quality while striving to reduce our environmental footprint has remained constant.  We hope you enjoy your next Ocean Legacy experience!
